Like 3 in Europe, Verizon has embraced Skype on mobile. Interesting that they say that now is the time because it can deliver a good user experience. The user experience lesson seems to be one that Microsoft is also wising up to, given their Phone 7 developments and the fact they are no longer going to let manufacturers reskin uncontrollably.
The Verizon-Skype tie-up is further evidence that operators have to learn to become a good data pipe - they're still going through the lessons that ISPs went through more than a decade ago. When we see the end of operator portals, we'll know they have caught up with the 21st century!
